France - Bethel extension project
by fifth.column inhi everyone, fyi :.
at the mid week meeting we had a letter, and a video to explain the extension project for the french bethel for the next 3.5 years.
the video was 5min long, in 3d (nice job in fact...) to show the future buildings for flats and offices (translation, video dubbing...).

1) Keep improving in my career. Now that I have my degree and a great job, I want to keep learning and making progress.
2) Rebuild muscle. My weight and fitness level are okay now, but I used to pump iron when I was in bethel. Such a waste back then to have a great body that was hidden by crappy suits and topped with a depressed brain.
3) Have more fun. Make real friends.
4) If there's any time and energy left, get married and have a mess of kids.

If the pioneers had the Holy Spirit they wouldn't need all this BS
Indeed. If we had to be so explicitly told that pioneering, serving in bethel, serving as MS/elder, and being single were such valuable gifts, are they really "gifts"? Of course not. Those gifts had so many strings attached that when I unloaded them, I felt such relief. And the "gift" of everlasting life? Living in a world full of JWs would be the 'gift' of hell. A gift earned by a lifetime of slavery to Watchtower, Inc.

They came, they saw, they left...
by NVR2L8 induring the holiday period one if my wife's brothers had planned a vacation in our area.
they drove about 6 hours to a condo they leased for a week to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their married son and daughter.
they called my wife to let her know they were coming to visit us since they were 2 hours away.

they were stopping by after just to say hello
Why did they even bother? They can say hello with a phone call.

Spiritual food at the proper time!
The spanking picture needs the caption: "Should the Governing Body be spanked?"
And the last picture now looks to me like an exJW family enjoying a holiday dinner while the hungry-looking JW is lonely and miserable. The caption should be: '"Not even eating with" your disfellowshipped family, no matter how loving, truth-about-the-truthful, and generous they are.'

Any luck kicking the bottle?
by Ignoranceisbliss inas i continue my sllllooooooowwwwwww fade one of the things that i want to do is better myself as a person.
one of my biggest pitfalls has always been drinking.
i don't think i am an alcoholic but at the same time i've never been a very good drinker.

I'm not a professional psychologist or counselor... But on the Internet, I like to pretend that I am.
Just connecting the dots of your comments about losing weight, the kids, drinking, and how you feel on the weekend, I'd suggest setting positive objectives to replace the drinking. I'm not much of a drinker, but I drink even less on Friday night when I have plans for Saturday. And Saturday night I'm less likely to drink much if I have brunch plans for Sunday morning.
Back in the old JW days, drinking was a way to numb the pain of weekends wasted slaving for the cult. And a way to numb the pain of slaving all week in bethel for the cult.

Big deal. President Eisenhower's mother was a Bible Student/JW.
For a religion that is supposedly reaching every kingdom, why would they get excited about some dub that might or might not have given some litteratrash to Obama? Shouldn't they be trying to reach the Saudi royal family, the leaders and population of so many non-Christian places, and isolated places like North Korea?
Besides, since WT has released a new Bible, isn't that book "old light"?

JW.ORG TRAFFIC WORTH
by @ROOT ini looked up the estimated revenue of jw.org using http://www.siteworthtraffic.com/ and was shocked at the results.
not only are they saving money on printing psychical books/magazines, but they're also making a tidy sum romtheir "free" website created and maintained by volunteers.
i spoke with a jw recently who was very proud to tell me just how good their website was and that they provided it free of charge.

"What is that tower there for? Looks like a typical church tower to me."
Great observation. Patterson has a steeple with a clock.
